Dr.-Ing. Ibrahim Kolawole Muritala is a registered engineer and Associate Professor of Energy, Manufacturing, and Trades Management at Lone Star College, Houston, USA. With over 20 years of experience spanning academia, research, and the energy industry—including oil and gas, maritime, and offshore sectors—he has become a recognized leader in sustainable energy and environmental technologies and innovation. A former research leader with the Low-Carbon Reducing Agent Department, Institute of Low Carbon Industrial Processes - German Aerospace Center.
Dr. Muritala’s expertise includes chemical process design, renewable energy systems, low-carbon industrial technologies, CCUS, environmental standards, hydrogen, and circular economy approaches. His research outputs, including international publications and patents, have reinforced his global standing as a thought leader in industrial decarbonization and environmental sustainability. Through his teaching and collaborative research, he is advancing decarbonization interventions and shaping future-ready solutions in energy and environmental systems.
He currently serves as the Global Hydrogen Leader at the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Global Sustainability Center, where he provides strategic direction for hydrogen-related decarbonization initiatives. His work supports the marine and offshore industries in the energy transition through market feasibility studies, technical assessments, and comprehensive carbon and hydrogen value chain strategies.
